RADM Ruting who travelled from Canberra to undertake this duty was accompanied by his delightful wife Margaret.
Winds gusting up to 80kms did not unseat the audience or deter 97 year old Shipmate Edward Cummins from witnessing the culmination of much effort by many people particularly Clr David Dwyer and Shipmate Jim O'Connor who were responsible for the planning involved in putting this fine Naval Memorial in place for the people of Pine Rivers Shire and the Pine Rivers Sub Section of the Naval Association of Australia in memory of all naval veterans.
It was wonderful to see the participation by the RAN Band and RAN Personnel, under the command of CMDR Bob Plath, ADC, Senior Naval Officer SE QLD. They participated in the catafalque party and provided the Australian Naval Cadets for the flag party and also assisted with serving refreshments after the ceremony.
Many shipmates from the Queensland State Section including State President Shipmate Phil Gilbert and members from many other Sub Sections witnessed the dedication performed by Chaplain Shipmate Col Baxter RAN Retd a member of Bribie Island Sub Section.

Rear Admiral Trevor Ruting gave a rousing and informative address then Mayor Clr Yvonne Chapman outlined the prominent position and background to establishment of the Memorial. Chaplain Colin Baxter led the dedication with Sub Section Vice President Rob Goodwin reciting the Naval Prayer.
