NATIONAL ANZAC DAY CEREMONY - 25 APRIL 2008 - CANBERRA

The National ANZAC Day ceremony was held on a beautiful sunny Canberra Autumn day.  The Prime Minister Mr Kevin Rudd, MP participated for the first time in this capacity.   Newly appointed Chairman of the Australian War Memorial, General Peter Cosgrove AC MC Ret'd attended for the first time in his new position.

The Naval Association of Australia, ACT Section was led by Section President, Peter McNay and it was a pleasure to see such a good turn-out of Section members and Navy veterans and serving personnel.

National President, Les Dwyer and Lynda attended and Les laid a wreath on behalf of the Naval Association of Australia together with the presidents of the RSL, Air Force Association and AVADSC.

Following the service many of those present adjourned to various watering-holes around Canberra to catch up with old mates.  It was good to see many attending the HMAS SYDNEY and VLSVA ANZAC gathering at the Canberra Club.

Several photographs of the day are under.
