ANZAC DAY NATIONAL CEREMONY, CANBERRA 25 APRIL 2007.

What a marvellous commemoration of ANZAC Day.  Thank you to the HMAS SYDNEY & VLSVA Canberra Sub Section for your wonderful hospitality following the Ceremony.  Lynda and myself enjoyed it immensely.

ANZAC Day was a very busy program for anyone in Canberra this year.  About 30,000 people turned out for the Dawn Service with light misty rain falling.

By the time the Main Service was held the rain had just stopped falling and everyone enjoyed a cool but wonderful ceremony.

It was great to see participation by so many Naval Veterans and serving personnel.

Australia was honoured by the presence of Admiral Yener Karahanoglu, Commander of the Turkish Naval Forces.  Admiral Yener Karahanoglu is the 21st Commander of the Turkish Naval Forces, was promoted to ADML in 2003 and has been in command ever since.  He is decorated with the 'Distinguished Service Medal of the Turkish Armed Forces' and holds the 'Medal of Honour of the Turkish Armed Forces'.  It gave me great pleasure to welcome him on behalf of all Australian Naval Veterans.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  So I will simply publish some of the photos I managed to take on the day.

Congratulations to the Australian War Memorial Board and Staff for the wonderful organisation that went into the day.
