NEW eFLEET SUB SECTION GETS UNDERWAY

This notice is posted to let all know that a one line comment on the main notice has attracted sufficient numbers and interest to start a new

eFLEET SUB SECTION.

Should you wish to be a FIRST e FLEET FOUNDATION MEMBER you should fill in a membership application form, attach a cheque for $30 together with proof of service and send it to the Acting Secretary, eFLEET SUB SECTION, PO Box 48, ARANA HILLS QLD 4054.   OR COMPLETE THE JOINING FORM ON THE Naval Association website at http://navalassoc.org.au/join08.htm and pay your membership using the PayPal system.

We will be collecting application forms for Foundation Membership over the next 8 weeks.

Cheques will be held for banking following approval of the new Sub Section and issuance of its Charter.  It is expected that this will happen in October 2009.

Please note that transfers will not be accepted from existing members as the Sub Section does not yet have a Charter.   As a rule-of-thumb it is also advised that it is not the intention of this new Sub Section to 'recruit' members from existing Sub Sections.

It is not intended to apply for a Charter until such time as we have a good number of applicants and it is the intention to issue all foundation members with a FIRST e FLEET FOUNDATION MEMBER certificate to celebrate the commencement of the Sub Section.    It is expected that this process will occur over the next eight weeks or so with limited web advertising and some other advertorial information being produced to get the new Sub Section underway.

There will be as few meetings as is required by the Constitution and they will be held as far apart as possible.    The Sub Section will evolve over time with applicants being able to participate at whatever level they wish … ie no involvement - to full-on, the most important feature being that there is an expectation that all simply want to be in the NAA with no obligations whatsoever, with an ability to participate through a dedicated website and chat forum.  This will be especially useful for those people who live in remote areas or who because they are serving are unable to participate in a regular Sub Section and its activities.

Of course, members will receive 4 FREE copies of Australian Warship / White Ensign Magazine annually posted to their nominated address.   The magazine alone represents $51.80 worth of value Navy reading.

Websites and chat forums will be starting shortly.

Members should be aware that there are already sufficient numbers to commence the Sub Section and that this Sub Section is being started to allow Naval veterans who may be distant from a regular Sub Section to participate and 'belong' to the Naval Association of Australia.   It is being particularly focussed so that serving members of the RAN can join without any pressure to attend a meeting although they will still be able to receive Australian Warship / White Ensign magazine and access all the facilities normally expected.   In time, Sub Section caps, shirts and other supporting paraphenalia will be produced.  ONLY MEMBERS OF THE eFLEET SUB SECTION will be able to access the internet facilities provided for the  eFLEET SUB SECTION.

Here’s hoping all goes well….

The Acting / Set-up positions to guide the implementation of the new Sub Section are:-

Acting Secretary:  Ms Patricia McKay, PO Box 48, Arana Hills, QLD 4054

Acting Treasurer: Mr Jim O'Connor, 52 Melinda Court Kallangur QLD

Acting President: Mr Les Dwyer PO Box 614, Yandina QLD 4561 (Telephone: 07 54727359)

ON 24 JULY 2009 a temporary website was started at http://efleetaustralia.org

This website will be completed over the next 8 weeks.
