NATIONAL PRESIDENT VISIT TO WA FOR DEDICATION OF NAVAL VIETNAM VETERAN PLAQUES IN ROCKINGHAM NAVAL MEMORIAL PARK AND NAVY WEEK, WA 20-27 NOVEMBER 2006

Some photos were of State President Mal Hughes, State Secretary Philip Steele, a meeting of the WA State Council, TS ANZAC that lies just outside HMAS STIRLING, The Naval Memorial Park, Rockingham showing photos of the people in attendance at the Dedication Service for the Memorial Plaques honouring the service of Navy Vietnam Veterans and Navy Units in Vietnam.

A very proud Executive Officer of HMA Submarine COLLINS gave National President, Les Dwyer, WA State Secretary Phil Steele and WA State Treasurer Barry Low a superb tour of his boat.

Calls were made on the Senior Naval Officer, WA Commodore Rick Shalders and the CO HMAS STIRLING, CMDR Paul Barrett.  Many worthwhile issues were discussed during the calls.

The Annual sports competition between Maritime Command and Naval Systems Command was held in HMAS STIRLING during Navy Week with CMDR Paul Bartlett accepting the trophy on behalf of Naval Systems Command.  Exceptional arrangements were put in place for this event by the PT Staffs from STIRLING and Maritime Command.  It was good to catch up with WOPT Steve Downey and the Ship's Warrant Officer HMAS STIRLING, Wade Green and to be brought up-to-date with happenings in the West.

During the reception after the Dedication Ceremony, the National President presented Shipmate Bob Hobbs with his 50 Year Service Certificate.  Congratulations, Bob.

The culmination of Navy Week was a superb Civic Reception with ceremonial sunset on the Friday evening followed by an Open Day on the following Sunday.

Congratulations must be extended to all personnel in HMAS STIRLING, Fleet Units and lodger units in HMAS STIRLING.  Your enthusiasm and professionalism shone through.  Your positive and 'can do' attitudes was a credit to you all.  Thank you for your exceptional hospitality and friendship.
