QUEENSLAND SECTION ANNUAL BBQ AT MARITIME MUSEUM, BRISBANE - PHOTOGRAPHS
A beautiful winter day on the banks of the Brisbane River was the location for the annual Queensland Section barbeque.
It was a good roll-up with everybody gathered at the Maritime Museum beside the dry dock containing the old HMAS DIAMANTINA which many took the opportunity to re-acquaint themselves with. The ship is looking really good and has had its hull painted below the waterline and much maintenance undertaken on her recently.
The new Section Executive under the command of Pat Ringold ably assisted by the State Executive members put on a great barbeque with two of the Section Vice Presidents providing the superb steaks (Trevor Rigby) and the bread rolls being imported from Maroochydore (by Blue Savage), how could you go wrong! 'Thirsty' Kevin Drinkwater the other Section Vice President did his bit by helping John Thorpe dispense the liquid refreshments. Congratulations again to the crew from Pine Rivers who flashed up the barbeque and did such a great job dispensing the victuals.
Richard McTaggart from Pine Rivers Sub Section was presented with his Diploma of Merit with the ink barely dried on it as it was only signed at the National Executive meeting the day before in Sydney - prior to its presentation to Richard by Jeff Abrahams, President of Pine Rivers Sub Section. Congratulations Richard.
Great entertainment with the music belting across the river helped to get some in the mood with much gyrating being mistaken for dancing on the grassy dance floor.
This year was undoubtedly one of the best spreads that I have seen in many a long year. Congratulations to all who organised it. It was worth flying 1,000 kms to be there!
