Retired Commodore Bryan Cleary a former Commanding Officer of HMAS RUSHCUTTER and HMAS PENGUIN has put many years work into ensuring that the name of HMAS RUSHCUTTER / RANEL / RANRL lives on in the memories of everybody.  Together with the local Woolahra Council, Bryan organised for this memorial and the service to commemorate the memorial and informational plaques that tell the story of HMAS RUSHCUTTER and RANEL and the people who served there over the many years of its existence.

The Chief of Navy, RADM Russ Crane accompanied by his wife Michelle and the Fleet Commander Nigel Coates and RADM James Goldrick arrived in the Fleet Commander's barge in the midst of a small flotilla of old craft including the Attack Class Patrol Boat HMAS ADVANCE which was tied also the jetty.

A large crowd was in attendance and the day was beautiful and sunny, complementing the mood of all those in attendance including many retired senior officers and sailors who had served at RUSHCUTTER.

Congratulations must go to Woolahra Council for their management of this area and their contribution to the memory of all those who served at RUSHCUTTER / RANEL.
