RON JOSEY CROSSED THE BAR IN SYDNEY - THURSDAY 30 AUGUST 2007

Ron Josey crossed the bar in Sydney on 28 August 2007.  His funeral took place at Macquarie Park Cemetery Deli Road, Ryde at 1415 Friday 31 August 2007.

Ron's family have asked for donations to the Heart Foundation in lieu of flowers.

Ron had a good send off.    Members of the NAA and HMAS Sydney Association, past and current serving SickBerth Tiffies were well represented.    Admirals A.J. Robertson and B. Treloar were there and CDRE Red Merson also.  CMDR Peter Cooke-Russell attended the funeral and represented the National President Les Dwyer who was absent in Adelaide on NAA business.  Ron Rosenberg gave a eulogy from the naval point of view and three of his children related the family side of Ron's life.

Ron joined the RAN in February 1946 and rose to the rank of WOMED before paying off in April 1974.  He joined the Naval Health Sub-Section of the Naval Association in February 1982.  Never one to stand back and let someone else do the work, Ron was a long time Secretary of the Naval Health Sub-Section until his passing.   He served as a NSW State Section Vice President from 1984 to 1987 and as NSW State Section President from 1987 to 1990.  In 1990 he was elected as the first Vice President of the Federal Council of the NAA a position which he held until 1996.

Ron became the inaugural Secretary of the White Ensign Magazine Management Committee in 1991 seeing the WEM through its initial stages of development and it progress through out the succeeding years until he retired due to health considerations in December, 2006.

Well known for his outspokeness, the NAA has lost a stalwart member and a caring critic.

The Photo above was taken at the last meeting of the WEMC that Ron attended in Canterbury-Bankstown Sub Section Club rooms.

They have no grave but the cruel sea,

No Flowers Lay at their head,

A Rusting Hulk is their tombstone

afast on the ocean bed.
