Membership of the Naval Association of Australia brings many benefits.

The best Naval magazine published in Australia - 'Australian Warship / White Ensign Magazine" is

delivered free to all members four times each year.   The newsagent price for this outstanding

publication is $47.80 (for four issues).  Membership of the Naval Association of Australia is $25 per

annum.  It is easy to see that provision of this great magazine alone well and truly accounts for the

membership cost.

Apart from that many social gatherings are organised by the NAA including ship reunions, local

bbq's etc.  Naturally there are periodic 'meetings' usually followed by social interaction of one

kind or another.

Apart from that members are covered by a universal Public Liability insurance program that protects

them and their assets should they ever be presented with a claim as a result of their participation at

most NAA activities.

Holiday, travel and home insurance at preferred rates are available to members.

A free NAA National Pensions and Welfare Service is also available for members at no charge.

Advocates, Welfare and Pensions officers are available in Tasmania to care for our members.

We will represent you at Veterans' Review Board hearings at no charge.

Apart from those things mentioned above - What will the Naval Association do for me?  This is a

question often asked in today's society.   The best answer is probably similar to one put in

different words by then US President John F Kennedy and it is:- 'Ask not what the Naval

Association can do for you, but what will you do for the Naval Association and your mates?'

The Naval Association regularly lobbies and makes representations for serving and ex-serving members

with regard to Nature of Service issues / Conditions of Service issues / DFRDB / MSBS and other

matters dear to the hearts and wallets of us all.  We have made many successful applications for medals

for groups of naval veterans, individual units and personnel.

In short, simply by joining the NAA monetarily you are better off and are assisted whether you are

aware of it or not.

Apart from that the NAA supports a range of Naval activities including the Australian Naval Cadet

organisation throughout Australia providing financial and personal support and leadership where

required.

The Naval Association offers a place where rank and rate stops at the front gate.  We have everybody

in our organisation from Ordinary Seamen and Midshipmen to current serving admirals.  It is amazing

what can be learned from them and others when you become involved.  A wealth of knowledge and

experience is here to help you.

If you were to ask the average member what they have gotten out of their membership of the Naval

Association I suppose it would usually be that they have seen someone or themselves benefit from

something that the NAA has done representationally for them.  Or it could be the satisfaction of knowing

that their widow will be looked after by the NAA should anything happen to them.   This is a very

comforting feeling - particularly for older members.

The reasons for membership are many and varied - get in, get involved and get with the program and

you will reap the many rewards of membership of the Naval Association of Australia.
