THE NAVAL RESERVE ASSOCIATION (AUSTRALIA)
The Naval Reserve Association was formed 31 years ago by a small group of then-serving RANR sailors to provide a forum for social and other activities outside the service environment.
It was intended to bring together all members of the RANR, past and present, to celebrate and preserve our common goals, aspirations, and heritage. It is testimony to those ideals that the Association is still going and is still growing
Emphasis is focused on the social calendar of the Association without compromising the service traditions such as Anzac Day, Reserve Forces Day and other Naval Occasions and Events.
The Association while maintaining its independence is at the same time a fully accredited Sub Branch of the Naval Association of Australia (NAA) and adheres to the aims and aspirations of the NAA.
The NRA also has an effective social or associate membership and is open to all interested or like-minded people with wives and partners of existing members becoming Associates.
In addition to the traditional and social side of the Association we enjoy a special relationship with AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL MARITIME MUSEUM at Darling Harbour by providing a Fleet Volunteer Group to man and maintain the former Patrol Boat HMAS ADVANCE the Reserve training vessel that so many of us served in.
The 31st AGM of the NRA was held on the 17th of September 2004 at the Ryde Ex Services Club, NSW and the following members were elected to the Executive and the Committee
President Frank Boyd Secretary Graham DeGabriel
Vice President Barry Nesbitt Treasurer Tony Duff
The following members were elected to the Committee; Barry Robbins, John Weekes, Trevor Pike, Peter Scutts and Tracey Wooten.
The Association would like to extend an invitation to all current and ex members of the RANR and RAN personnel, to join us in furthering the aims of the NRA, the NAA and continuing the friendships gained through our service.
Further information can be obtained from Frank Boyd, email socb@bigpond.com Mobile, 0419637766 or phone after hours 47586524

ANZAC DAY
Don’t forget Anzac Day this year, we would like to see a big rollup of members for the march it makes our presence felt and allows us the privilege of maintaining our unique identity within the Naval Ranks and save us from any move to relegate us to the also rans at the rear of the parade. Anzac Day is a great chance to catch up with old friends and to reflect on our time spent in the service so please make an effort and be there on the day.
