Our Sub Section meets every first Wednesday of every second month at 11 a.m. The next meeting is on 4th August and then on the 6th October, and so on at the Willoughby Legion Ex-Services Club.

The Sub Section is doing well, and since the beginning of the year 2003 we have actually acquired 7 new members, the last one a mere 30 years younger than I am, so we have possible new committee members waiting in the wings, so to speak.

Our President is June Jorgenson OAM. June is also State Secretary of the Australian Legion, she has read Law obtaining an LLB. June is also an Advocate assisting veterans who apply for Disability Pensions.

I don't know whether you are aware of the fact that I am also the Hon. Secretary/Treasurer of the Battle of the Java Sea Commemoration Committee, an international committee and we have any annual commemoration day at the Cenotaph at Martin Place, attended by representtaives of all the allied navies involved in that battle, except India (we asked them but they were not interested). This is followed by a church on the following Sunday in the Naval Chapel, originally to commemorate the loss of the PERTH and YARRA, but we are now considering involving the Netherlands Ex-Servicemen & Womens Association in that (I am Hon. Secretary of that Association for NSW).

Last February at the service at the Cenotaph we had the Hon. Danna Vale MP as our Guest of Honour, and in 2003 the Governor of NSW. So as you can see I am indeed much involved in naval and veterans' matters which keeps me very busy.
