General Information

White Ensign is the Official Journal of the Naval Association of Australia and has served the Naval and ex-Naval communities over many years. The Journal has the complete support of the Chief of Navy. In January 2007 the Journal was combined with the premier naval magazine “Australian Warship”.

The Naval Association of Australia controls the publication of the Journal through the White Ensign Management Committee (WEMC). The WEMC determines broad publishing, advertising and financial policy with day-to-day management exercised by the Editor.

Advertising will appear throughout the White Ensign /Australian Warship magazine.

Each issue features a broad range of topics addressing current naval and defence industry news, outstanding naval/defence, personnel, historical events and items of general interest - which include subjects such as finance and investment, family and welfare matters and every day events.

Up until late 2009 there have been eight issues of Australian Warship produced each calendar year. The publishers intend to increase the number of issues to 10 per year.

Previously Issues 1, 3, 5, 7 contained a copy of White Ensign Magazine. Issues 2, 4, 6, 8 previously contained some White Ensign material including a membership application form.

When the number of issues increases to 10 per annum, White Ensign Magazine will continue to be published in 4 editions each year.

Distribution

White Ensign / Australian Warship magazine is distributed to Naval Association of Australia members, affiliated Ship Associations, non-member subscribers, all RAN Units, Ships and Establishments, major Defence Headquarters, Parliament House and several Defence, governmental, business, legal, community libraries and overseas Diplomatic Missions. Each One Star RAN officer and those more senior receive a copy of the magazine.

Many thousands more copies of White Ensign / Australian Warship are distributed for sale by all newsagents throughout Australia.

Advertising copy may be accepted at a later date by arrangement with the Editor.

The determinations (portrait/landscape) and size/dimensions of advertisements must be advised at least seven days before Australian Warship / White Ensign Magazine is due to be sent for printing and the camera ready artwork, must be submitted at least two clear days before printing date.

Production

The material requirements / advertising copy and specifications for White Ensign / Australian Warship are as follows:-

Page Size - The Magazine is usually 64 full A4 sized pages although this may be varied by the publisher (usually upward) from time to time to include special features.

Full Colour – High resolution 300dpi colour separations in negative form right reading,

emulsion down plus colour proof

General - Journal staff will prepare advertising, copy material/rough layouts

provided by the advertiser. Price on application.

ADVERTISING WILL BE DISTRIBUTED THOUGHOUT THE ENTIRE AUSTRALIAN WARSHIP / WHITE ENSIGN MAGAZINE.
